This 7350-square-foot home's design and inspiration grew from the apple orchard it occupies and the panorama of the Connecticut River Valley it commands. To capture the views, expanses of glass and a Widow's Watch, reached by an exterior spiral staircase, were oriented north to the Valley and Hartford. On the exterior, the geometry and textures of slate select roofing, stucco cladding, stone chimneys and glass complement the well-established trees and newly planted apple orchard. The interior is centered around a south facing atrium with a three-story stone wall and waterfall.
A.P. Savino LLC won the Home Builder’s Association of Connecticut HOBI Award in 2005 for this project in the category of Best Custom Home 7,000-8,000 S.F. in Hartford County.
